Four more sleeps

Only four more sleeps till it’s Christmas day and like most people I’m excited.

Not only because there will be presents to be opened – though this is one very good reason to wish the rest of the week away – no, I’m mostly looking forward to a four-day weekend and one of those days being spent on a beautiful, sandy beach.

As an Australian nothing quite says Christmas more than spending a sunshine filled day by the ocean whilst enjoying freshly cooked fish and crab for lunch and partaking in a spot of beach cricket afterward.

You usually have to hit the good spots early in the morning otherwise you completely miss out on a table, let alone one that is under a shady tree and you sometimes have to share a your piece of the beach with another family but everyone is fairly relaxed and the beach works its own sort of magic on you, leaving you sleepy at the end of the day.

How are you spending your Christmas? What are you most looking forward to?

  1. Ever since I can remember we always tried to get to the beach between Christmas and New Years. We’d park cars to block the wind. Not many people go there this time of year – so it’s much nicer to walk down the beach. It was 75 today, but heavy fog and overcast – so no fun. Realistically, your beaches are soooooo much prettier and nicer than ours on the Gulf Coast. Enjoy the new year.

    1. That sounds quite similar to what the folks do here is Australia if they don’t have to work the week between Christmas and New years. We even get the odd fools who decide to set their tents up right on the beach itself in hopes to claim their ground before the masses arrive. Thanks for the well wishes. I hope you have a happy new year.
